HEROES-Bowie by Sukita is a retrospective that the undisputed master of Japanese photography has dedicated to his great friend David Bowie!
“It was 1972 that I started it. And I’m still looking for David Bowie even now.”
From 30 March to 28 June 2019, 60 large-format photographs will be exhibited, some of which will be a national preview, which trace a partnership that lasted over forty years: not only the iconic shots for the cover of the ‘HEROES’ album but also images from the archive a Sukita staff that tells of a friendship that began in the 1970s.
“Seeing David Bowie on stage opened up my eyes to his creative genius. Bowie was different to the other rock and rollers, he had something special that I knew I had to photograph” (Masayoshi Sukita)
The great residence of the fifteenth century will host the exhibition dedicated to the icon of pop culture, and Florence will thus pay homage to the White Duke. Ancient and modern come together giving the opportunity to visitors with the same ticket to see the splendid work that Sukita has dedicated to the artist Bowie and friend, but also to visit the prestigious palace.
Also many side events will be scheduled for the three months of exposure.
Thanks to Le Nozze di Figaro acoustic concerts will be coordinated in the courtyard of the building.
The merchandising and the catalog are published by OEO Firenze.
The exhibition is curated by Ono Arte Contemporanea.
Hours: Monday-Sunday 9 am-7pm, closed Wednesday.
